“You’re going to have to make your own excuses for not doing these things,” says Kagan. “You may not have the time or resources to be able to do them now, but if you don’t do them in the future you’ll pay a heavy price in your own head.”
So if you are a student thinking about dropping out of school or failing a course, be prepared to live in your head forever if you try to do everything on the checklist above. You will feel like you are failing, and the more likely it is that you will fail the more likely it is that you will be depressed and unable to get through the next semester or the next academic year.
If you know that you are doing everything right and it is just that you can’t see it, then please don’t do anything like that! You can get the help that you need to stay in school and go further in school if you are determined enough. Just be aware.
